Venue and Transportation
The 29th International Symposium on Human Identification will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center. Located in the center of a vibrant walkable downtown, the Convention Center is mere steps from a variety of urban eateries, live music, professional sports, art museums and more.
We have negotiated a limited block of rooms at hotels within walking distance of the Convention Center. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and government rate rooms will sell out quickly, so if you are in need of one of these rooms, please book early. Please note that government rate rooms are for U.S. government employees only and identification will be required upon check-in. Please contact Tara Luther with any questions.
Renaissance Phoenix Downtown
The Renaissance is our headquarter hotel where most speakers will stay. A limited block of rooms will be available at the government rate of $124 per night, with other rooms available for $229 per night. A U.S. Goverment ID is required to book at the government rate.
Hyatt Regency Phoenix
We’ve added an additional block at the nearby Hyatt Regency Phoenix with a limited number of rooms available at the government rate of $124 per night, with other rooms available for $229 per night. A U.S. Goverment ID is required to book at the government rate.
While early reservations are recommended to take advantage of discounted rates, please be sure to cancel your reservations prior to August 27, 2018 if you are unable to attend or you cannot use the reservations. This will make the rooms available for other attendees and will help ISHI avoid the financial penalties associated with cancellations made after the room block closes.

The Renaissance is approximately 4 miles from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). The hotel does not provide a shuttle to or from the airport, but the following are great options.
SuperShuttle: Vans operate 24 hours on a scheduled basis, with vans departing every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rates are zone based and typically range from $12 to $46 for the first passenger. Each additional residential passenger per reservation is $8 regardless of zone. All major credit cards are accepted. Book your ride here.
Taxi: The estimated taxi fare is $15 each way. Taxi service is readily available at

- Terminal 4: Level 1, North curb, outside door # 7 and south curb, outside door #6
Public Transportation: The Valley Metro Rail and Valley Metro Bus services are also available to transport you from the airport to downtown. The cost is $2 each way for bus transportation.
