Verogen is looking for a highly talented Scientist with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and assay development expertise to be a key member of our Assay Development team. As a successful candidate, you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment to create new assays and kits for the Forensic Genomics community. A strong understanding in molecular biology and/or biochemistry is required.
Assist with development and testing of NGS based assays and workflows for Forensic Genomics Plan, conduct, analyze, interpret, and report recommendations based on tested experimental results Optimize assay conditions to achieve commercial levels of stability, robustness and performance Recognize potential problems, understand and troubleshoot assays Write experimental reports, summaries and protocols for project lead and other teams as appropriate Contribute to the overall success of the project; anticipate problems to minimize issues and work to resolve any issues to minimize impact on success of project Requirements
Experience in wide variety of molecular biology techniques for nucleic acid analysis. Candidates with prior experience of developing products for NGS applications are highly desirable. Solid understanding of polymerases, nucleases, modification enzymes, NGS library preparation PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 1+ years’ industry experience in developing products from concept to commercialization. Bachelors or Masters with industry experience in developing products from concept to commercialization will be considered. Experience with reagent formulation and assay workflow design and optimization preferred. Knowledge of standard molecular biology/nucleic acid-based protocols for DNA and RNA. Solid skills in document writing; development of reports, plans, work instructions, etc Ability to perform independent research of publications and patents, etc for input into project and assay design Ability to handle hazardous and bio-hazardous materials including human blood products Detail-oriented, organized, ability to implement protocols and keep good notes in a lab notebook Analytical, detail oriented, organized, efficient, problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills Must have a desire to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic development environment Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
