Your DNA Guide
A microbiology graduate, Diahan Southard knew from her first day as an undergrad that she was a little different than her mostly pre-med classmates. While they applied their minds to memorization of various facts and formulas, she would create images or analogies to help remember the concepts taught. That skill has served her well in the last 18 years as she has become an international speaker in the Genetic Ancestry industry convincing even the most skeptical attendee that science can not only be valuable in family research, but understood and applied even by non-scientists.
Diahan has evolved with the Genetic Ancestry industry beginning in the year 2000 when she helped pioneer the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, the first attempt to combine DNA and family history. For the last 5 years she has been running Your DNA Guide, a company providing education and assistance to anyone with DNA who wants to learn more about their family history. In April 2018 she evolved once again as the Genetic Ancestry industry expanded its reach to allow law enforcement to harness the power of both DNA and genealogy in finding perpetrators and identifying missing persons. She now also runs DNA Eyewitness, a company providing educational opportunities for law enforcement to learn how to apply DNA and family history in their investigations
After attending her classes, you will find that you understand what DNA testing and family history can offer and exactly what you need to do next to move your own work forward.
