Edna Iwamura joined Universidade Federal de São Paulo in 2008. She graduated in 1986 with a Bachelors in Biology from Universidade Presbiteriana MacKenzie —one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Brazil. From 1988 to 2007, member of the Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo. The researcher has published widely in both the clinical and forensic science literature,also is a member of the advisory committee of the Brazilian National Council of Technological and Scientific Development (CNPq) and the Research Support Foundation of São Paulo State (FAPESP). In May 2013, she was President of the IV Brazilian Congress of Forensic Genetics held at the Memorial da América Latina in São Paulo, Brazil. She was Visitor Researcher at University of Northumbria, Newcastle Upon Tyne , UK (2015-2016). Since 2017 she is Associate Professor (Livre Docente) Universidade Federal de São Paulo- Escola Paulista de Medicina— Department of Pathology where she leads research in Molecular and Forensic Pathology and undertakes Master and Doctoral research supervision. Founded in 1933, the School is part of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brazil.
