Julie Burrill brings a strong academic and applied background in forensic science and years of experience in DNA labs and in translating complex forensic concepts into a legal context. She co-developed this workshop to integrate the Alda Method and related improvisation theater techniques into training curricula tailored to testifying forensic scientists. Dr. Burrill served as the staff scientist at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, where she trained attorneys on a wide range of forensic science issues, prepared scientific expert witnesses for trial testimony, and lectured nationally on the litigation of complex scientific topics in court. She conducted her PhD research into forensic DNA on a Fulbright Scholarship and has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
