Natasha Poe was previously employed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory in Baton Rouge where she worked in the Physical Evidence Unit. The Physical Evidence Unit was a multi-discipline unit that included the serology department. She began my career in serology, crime scene investigation, latent print processing, physical comparisons and shoe and tire print impressions. Natasha was part of the group present during the implementation of DNA testing at the crime laboratory and the establishment of the state’s CODIS Unit. During her eleven years at the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory, she gained priceless knowledge and training in the field of forensics.
In 2007, Natasha was given an opportunity to help establish the DNA Unit at the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office due to a recently passed property tax and serve as the DNA Technical Leader. At STPCO, she primarily functions as the DNA Technical Leader but also fills the roles of Alternate CODIS Administrator and casework analyst. She has worked on many interesting cases in her 27 years in forensic science.
Natasha is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Science and the Louisiana Association of Forensic Scientists and a previous member of the Southern Association of Forensic Science.
She is an FBI Quality Assurance Standards Testing auditor, 17025 ISO Technical Assessor in Biology. She has participated in forensic laboratory assessments to include Local, State, Private and International laboratories for the past 23 years.
