Detective Steven Smugeresky graduated in 1997 from Allentown College of St. Francis De Sales with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services.  Allentown College has since achieved University status and is now De Sales University. Detective Smugeresky was sworn in as a Montgomery County Police Officer in 2002.  His is currently assigned to the Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit after spending 19 plus years in patrol-based units.  He holds other duties as the Co-coordinator of the Montgomery County Police Peer Support Team, a Field Training Officer, and a Maryland Police Training Commission Certified instructor.  Detective Smugeresky holds 10 plus years of family history research/genealogy experience (mostly self-taught).  He holds multiple certificates of course completion in the following subject matters: Homicide and death investigation, unresolved homicide investigation, CDS investigations, and gang investigation.
