Mixture Interpretation Workshop (Presented in Spanish)

Description:

To have a better understanding of mixture interpretation and deconvolution by providing a lecture with validation samples.

We will discuss the procedure on how to best use the data incorporating the usage of peak height ratio, imbalance, stutter, etc.

Attendees will be provided with validation samples to be used under their own standard operating procedures followed by how those same samples are interpreted at the Houston Forensic Science Center Lab using our standard operating procedures.

This workshop will be presented entirely in Spanish.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Learn the skills to be able to implement in their labs
  2. Review of the basics of mixture interpretation
  3. Learn how different labs interpret mixture

Rebecca Gonzales has worked in Forensics for approximately 12 years. She started working in traditional serology, performed manual technician work, and went on to learn DNA interpretation with Identifiler Plus and Globalfiler and now STRmix, and currently she works in the CODIS unit at Houston Forensic Science Center.

Zoraya Reyes Mora started working as a Criminalist at the Houston Police Department Crime Laboratory in 2012. In 2014, the lab became the Houston Forensic Science Center, an independent entity. Throughout the years, she was trained in serology, DNA processing and writing.
