WHO ATTENDS ISHI?

 

We’ve received a lot of questions over the years on whether or not attending the International Symposium on Human Identification is appropriate for someone in a certain career field. In most cases, if you have an interest in or work with DNA typing, then the answer is yes, definitely!

Our audience is primarily comprised of Criminalists, Analysts, and Forensic Scientists ranging from those who have just entered the field to veterans. What’s unique to ISHI is that we also host many of the decision makers in the field, from Technical Leaders and Supervisors to Directors and CEOs.

 

What hotel options are available?

 

We have negotiated a limited block of rooms at the following nearby hotels: Renaissance Palm Spings  and the Hilton Palm Springs. Rates and additional information can be found here.

 

What are the exhibit hours?

 

Exhibit hours will run from 7:30am – 5:30pm Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 7:30am – 10:30am on Thursday.

 

What is the ticket price to attend?

 

Early registration will run through July 15th, with a rate of $695. After July 15th, the standard registration rate of $795 will apply. Students are able to register at a discounted rate of $595. Those interested in attending only the workshops do not need to pay the full registration rate, and can simply pay for the workshops attended.

 

What is included in the registration fee?

 

Included in the registration fee are the General Session talks, admission to the exhibit hall, conference materials, breakfast Tuesday – Thursday, lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Welcome Reception on Monday evening, and the dinner event on Wednesday evening. Attendees can register for workshops presented for an additional fee.

 

What payment types are accepted?

 

We accept VISA, Mastercard, and American Express debit and credit cards, check payments, purchase orders, and wire transfers. Please make checks payable to “Promega” (attn: ISHI 30) and send to PO Box 689768, Chicago, IL 60695-9768. Please contact Tara Luther for wire transfer instructions. When submitting payment, please include your registration ID or other identifying information so that we can be sure to apply your payment to the correct account.

 

Do I need to pay at the time of registration?

 

No! You can make payment at a later date by logging into your account, or can pay at the event at the Registration Desk. This allows you to register at the early rate and pay at a later time. When paying later, make sure to check the appropriate payment option. If you do not select a payment option, your registration will not be complete.

 

Can I purchase multiple tickets?

 

Absolutely! During the registration process, you can register multiple individuals and pay with the same payment method. If you need an invoice created with all members of your group included, please email Tara Luther.

Please note that everyone attending must be registered. There are no “plus ones” or “guests” or anonymous attendees. Each individual attending the show receives a name badge which can be collected at the Self Check-In kiosks. A name badge is required for entry to the show floor.

 

I purchased a ticket online – when will  you mail my badge to me?

 

We do not mail badges. Badges will be distributed when you check in at the Self Check-In kiosks. You can save time by registering in advance rather than at the show.

 

I registered, but now cannot attend. What are my options?

 

We’re sorry to hear that you won’t be able to join us! In the event that you need to cancel your registration for the general session or workshops, you will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee if the cancellation is received by September 1.  After September 1, 50% of registration fees will be refunded.

Substitutions are available at any time.

Do I need to register in advance, or can I register at the show?

 

While registering online will save you time at the event, you can certainly register on-site as well. We accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express, check, and cash payments. Advance registration is recommended for workshops as they do fill up and space cannot be guaranteed.

 

I am interested in exhibiting – what steps do I need to take?

 

That’s great – we’d love to have you! Please take a moment to visit the Exhibit at ISHI page. In order to hold your place, select your booth preference from the exhibitor portal and submit payment for half of the booth cost. The exhibitor’s fee is $2,850 per 10’x10′ space. This fee includes two chairs, a table and two full Symposium registrations.  First time exhibitors will receive a discounted rate of $2,500. *Please note: exhibit space is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Tara Luther with any questions.

What is the dress-code?

 

Dress is casual for all sessions, workshops, and dinner events.

 

What is the official language of ISHI?

 

The official language will be English, however, we do offer a Monday workshop held completely in Spanish.

 

Where can I find abstracts from previous symposia?

 

Abstracts for both oral and poster presentations are available on the Promega webpage dating back to the 9th ISHI.
