The interest and use of Rapid DNA has increased over the past several years.  This update will focus on the FBI’s progress toward the future use of Rapid DNA analysis on crime scene samples for CODIS.  Other highlights will include the status report on the FBI’s multi-laboratory study with improved Rapid DNA technology specific for crime scene samples as well as an update on the use of Rapid DNA in the booking environment for qualifying arrestees.

Douglas Hares

Rapid DNA Implementation Program Advisor for the FBI’s Biometric Analysis Section

Dr. Hares is the Rapid DNA Implementation Program Advisor for the FBI’s Biometric Analysis Section.  He joined the DNA Analysis Unit II of the FBI Laboratory in 2000 as a Forensic Examiner.  In 2006, Dr. Hares transferred to the CODIS Unit where he served as the NDIS Custodian for over 13 years.
