Alain Edwards is the Chief Technology Officer at DNA Labs International, where he leads the organization’s technology strategy across software engineering, laboratory systems, cybersecurity, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and product development. With more than 12 years of engineering and technology leadership experience, he works at the intersection of forensic science, laboratory operations, and secure software development.
Alain is the creator and architect of Helix LIMS, a laboratory information management system developed within an operational forensic DNA laboratory to support evidence tracking, chain of custody, casework, inventory, instrument integration, technical review, and reporting. He also guides DLI’s broader engineering and artificial intelligence initiatives, including Rosalind AI, with an emphasis on developing practical, validated, and maintainable technologies that strengthen the quality, efficiency, and defensibility of forensic workflows.
His academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, where he also conducted doctoral work in Computer Engineering. His research has encompassed intelligent and secure networked systems, vehicular communications, artificial intelligence, and post-quantum cryptography. Throughout his career, Alain has focused on translating complex scientific, operational, and regulatory requirements into reliable technology solutions that support forensic practitioners and advance laboratory capabilities.
