Andrew Lee

Principal Assistant District Attorney, Suffolk County District Attorney's Office

Andrew Lee has served as a prosecutor for more than 12 years and currently works on the Cold Case Homicide Task Force of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. In this role, he manages complex homicide investigations and prosecutions, partnering with law enforcement to uncover investigative opportunities, develop viable cases for prosecution, and leverage emerging forensic technologies. He has secured $1,000,000 in grant funding to support these efforts and to deliver long-awaited justice not just for the victims, but also their loved ones.

In 2022, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney appointed Andrew as one of the lead prosecutors overseeing the pre-arrest investigation and subsequent prosecution of the Gilgo Beach serial killer, Rex A. Heuermann. In that role, Andrew worked closely with law enforcement partners and multidisciplinary experts, conducted an exhaustive review of investigative files spanning three decades, and drafted key legal processes to marshal large volumes of new evidence. He also helped conduct multiple covert grand jury presentations that incorporated advanced DNA analysis as well as digital forensic and cellular location evidence.
Throughout the prosecution, Andrew played a critical role in not only case strategy, particularly regarding public bail documents and motion practice, but also in the months-long Frye hearing that culminated in a precedent-setting September 2025 ruling allowing advanced SNP DNA evidence at a criminal trial for the first time in New York State.

Earlier in his career, Andrew prosecuted gang-motivated violent crimes in the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau and served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County and Bronx County District Attorney’s Offices.

Andrew and his wife, Esther, are the proud parents of three children.
