Donald Siegel

Principal Scientist, Department of Forensic Biology, New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner

Donald Siegel is Principal Scientist in the Department of Forensic Biology at the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, where he leads the Emerging Technologies Group. His work focuses on evaluating and implementing emerging forensic technologies, including proteomic mass spectrometry and massively parallel sequencing, for forensic casework applications. He received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Department of Neuroscience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training at Rockefeller University. Before joining NYC OCME, he held faculty positions at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and New York Medical College. Since joining NYC OCME in 2007, his work has included molecular genetics, quality management, and the development and validation of proteomic approaches for body fluid identification.
