Research Biologist, NIST

Erica Romsos is currently a Research Biologist at NIST. She received her B.S. from Valparaiso University in Biology and M.F.S. from George Washington University in Forensic Molecular Biology. A member of the Applied Genetics Group at NIST for 9 years mainly focusing on rapid DNA, optimization of qPCR assays, and the use of digital PCR for characterization of the next generation of the Human DNA quantitation standard.  Erica Romsos and Peter Vallone were awarded the 2014 Department of Commerce Silver Medal for the development of rapid forensic DNA typing techniques that enable state of the art human identity testing and DNA biometrics
