Isabel Navarro Vera

Isabel Navarro Vera has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology, and a Bsc in Biology. She is currently the Technical Director and head of the forensic genetics area at the Citogen Laboratory. Since 2019, she also works as a lecturer in Genomics and Advanced Pharmacotherapy at San Jorge University.

She has extensive experience in the field of forensic genetics and has participated in studies and scientific publications of international scope, as well as presented numerous communications in specialized international congresses. Isabel works actively in collaboration with different proffesionals such as police, private detectives, lawyers, historians or anthropologists, applying forensic genetics to solve cases of very different nature.

In the recent years, working as technical director and head of the forensic genetics department in Citogen, she has focused her work specially in implementing and validating the use of MPS applied to forensics and in the application of new generation sequencing technologies to Missing Persons projects, including STRs, mtDNA and FIGG studies.
