Kara Hoopis Manosh is the President of the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a founding partner of Manosh Payette, LLC, where her practice focuses on serious felony and homicide defense in state and federal courts. For nearly two decades, she has represented indigent and privately retained clients in some of Rhode Island’s most complex criminal cases, with extensive trial experience involving homicide, violent offenses, and other major felonies. A former Assistant Public Defender, Attorney Manosh has handled thousands of criminal cases and serves on Rhode Island’s Murder Panel and multiple state and federal Criminal Justice Act appointment panels. She earned an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy with a concentration in Federal Criminal Law and has completed advanced national training through the National Criminal Defense College, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Institute for Criminal Defense Advocacy. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with DNA analysts, forensic pathologists, firearms examiners, cell site experts, and other forensic specialists, bringing a trial lawyer’s perspective to the presentation, interpretation, and cross-examination of scientific evidence in the courtroom.
