DNA Specialist, Office of the Bronx District Attorney

Nana Lamousé-Welch, M.S. is the DNA Specialist for the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office in New York City. In her current role Nana acts as a liaison to the OCME and assists the district attorney’s office with all DNA related matters ranging from education to trial preparation and hearings to cold case investigations and genetic genealogy investigations. She began her career at the Bode Technology group, working on backlog sexual assault kits and mass disasters before moving on to BRT Laboratories in Baltimore to focus on accreditation and routine casework. Prior to coming to the DA’s office, Nana was a Criminalist with the New York City OCME where she was a senior supervisor of casework in addition to performing validation studies and assisting with disaster related duties. Nana holds a B.A. in Biology from Vassar College and an M.S. in Forensic Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Nana received her certificate in Forensic Genetic Genealogy from the University of New Haven and is a member of the NTVIC Public Laboratory FGG Technical Validation subcommittee within the Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy Technical Working Group (FIGG-TWG).
