Founder, Barron Law Office

Virginia “Ginny” Barron, J.D., is the founder of Barron Law Office in Westbrook, Minnesota, where she represents individuals charged with criminal offenses and consults with Minnesota defense attorneys on complex forensic DNA evidence.

Her work centers on translating complex forensic DNA evidence into effective courtroom strategy while ensuring the underlying science is accurately understood and fairly presented.

For more than a decade, Ginny has focused on forensic DNA litigation. She serves as a forensic DNA consultant for the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office and is a member of Minnesota’s statewide public defender DNA team. She assists attorneys in the review and interpretation of complex forensic DNA evidence and the development of litigation strategy, including both traditional and probabilistic DNA interpretation, such as CPE/CPI, random match probabilities, STRmix, likelihood ratios, laboratory validation, admissibility, and the scientific and legal issues surrounding DNA evidence. She regularly reviews laboratory case files, validation studies, standard operating procedures, scientific literature, and authoritative scientific reports in support of complex criminal litigation.

Ginny also trains Hennepin County public defenders and public defense attorneys throughout Minnesota on forensic DNA evidence.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and has served in several leadership roles within AAFS, including Chair of the 2024 Jurisprudence Section, Chair of the 2024 Justice Talks, and Chair and Co-Chair of the Jurisprudence Section program sessions in 2022 and 2023.
