Zachary Goecker is a Health Scientist in the Mass Spectrometry Data Center Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. His research applies proteomic mass spectrometry to forensic biology, with an emphasis on genetically variant peptides for human identification and body-fluid-specific peptides for body fluid identification. He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of California, Davis, where his dissertation focused on hair proteomics for forensic human identification and disease characterization. He also holds an M.P.S. in forensic chemistry and a B.S. in forensic biology. His work has included proteomic genotyping of human hair, DNA degradation analysis, and bottom-up proteomic analysis of semen, hair, viral proteins, and vaccine glycoproteins.
